New all-vinyl DJ mix out on YouTube for Red Dresser Session with rare grooves, library music, jazz-funk and soundtracks
I’ve got a new 40-track all-vinyl mix out on YouTube for Red Dresser Session, digging through a wide selection of records from around the world. A pretty eclectic journey through jazz-funk, psychedelic grooves, library music, soundtracks, funk, breaks, instrumental hip hop and a bunch of other stuff that’s hard to put into one genre.
There’s Italian pop from Mina, German exploitation soundtracks from Manfred Hübler & Siegfried Schwab, British library music from Alan Parker, Alan Hawkshaw and Brian Bennett, Scandinavian jazz-funk, Brazilian grooves, Latin psychedelia, Arabic pop and plenty of cinematic sounds.
Alongside older and more obscure records, I’ve mixed in some newer favorites from the likes of Sven Wunder, Sababa 5, Project Gemini, The Ironsides, Adrian Younge and Ernie Hawks & The Soul Investigators. There are also some Danish music from Otto Brandenburg, Holger Laumann and 9ICK, a few edits and reworks, and a bit of instrumental hip hop thrown in for good measure.
As usual, it’s all about finding connections between different sounds, countries and decades, from forgotten soundtrack gems and dusty grooves to contemporary artists keeping those sounds alive.
Watch and listen to the full mix on YouTube.
