In this months episode of WaxWorks w/ Nyboe on Black Rhino Radio he is visited by the Vietnamese DJ, B-Boy and producer DJ Slowz for a talk about discovering hip hop and breaks, digging records, Vietnamese music culture and it’s history, how Western music and the war influenced music in the area, working with Saigon Supersound and much more.
DJ Slowz is a Vietnamese DJ, producer, and cultural practitioner rooted in hip-hop tradition and musical preservation. Emerging from the B-boy scene in 2004, he developed a deep connection to breakbeats, vinyl culture, and rhythm-driven expression. Today, he is recognized as a key figure in Vietnam’s hip-hop movement and a leading force in reviving rare South Vietnamese music from the golden era before 1975. Through DJing, sampling, live performance, and archival digging, Slowz bridges generations,- reconnecting contemporary audiences with forgotten musical heritage.
