WaxWorks w/ Nyboe October 2026 on Black Rhino Radio

In this month’s episode of WaxWorks w/ Nyboe on Black Rhino Radio, he takes you on a journey though 1970’s and vintage adult themes and soundtracks - both ones made for the films and those inspired by them.

From French softcore and Italian erotic cinema to German sexploitation, Danish adult films and the imaginary world of 70's porn music, this episode explores a side of film music where composers were often given remarkably free rein. Sensual jazz, soundscaping funk, psychedelic grooves, lounge, orchestral pop and sleazy disco all find their way onto the turntable at Nyboe’s private booth.

Expect music from films such as Jean Rollin's Schoolgirl Hitchhikers, Jean-Pierre Mirouze's lost soundtrack to Le Mariage Collectif, Gert Wilden's music for the German Mädchen, die nach München kommen, François de Roubaix's score for the cult vampire film Daughters of Darkness, Piero Umiliani's tropical soundtrack to La Ragazza dalla Pelle di Luna and Franco Micalizzi's exotic and sensual score for Laure, also known as Forever Emmanuelle.

There is also a Danish connection through Alex Puddu's The Golden Age of Danish Pornography, a 2011 soundtrack inspired by a collection of early 70s Danish adult films. And then there is Pornosonic, the deliberately retro project created by Don Argott and collaborators in 1999, presenting newly recorded music in the style of long-lost 70s porn soundtracks.

Along the way, Nyboe digs into the records, the films, the composers and the strange history behind these forgotten soundtracks, looking at how music written for sexploitation and adult cinema often ended up becoming fascinating listening in its own right.

Expect plenty of deep cuts, cinematic grooves, obscure vinyl and music that sounds like it belongs somewhere between a smoky Italian lounge, a Parisian nightclub and a very questionable sweaty 1970's movie theatre.
