da-I've done a mixtape as the soundtrack for Asmus Helms' new exhibition
I have done the soundtrack / soundscape to the Danish painter and artist Asmus Helms' first solo-exhibition as a vinyl-mixtape on cassette with a mixture of Danish hip hop, old breaks, rare grooves, weird library music and so on.
A month and a half ago Asmus came to see me play live - as he has many times before - and he has also bought several of my mixtapes, which he plays in his studio while painting. So we started talking about the exhibition he had coming and how maybe I should do a mixtape on cassette for it.
It became this - available for the fernis and exhibition in 8 copies for sale. Almost 60 minutes of 32 tracks mixed together on two sides inspired by his paintings for the exhibition and the surroundings he painted them in as well. It was an interesting challenge, but luckily Asmus loved the mix!
